Why i use a mirrorless camera
I have to say that i have been using Dslr cameras for a long time. I used to have a Canon eos 400dD and a Canon Eos 40D . Both of them are excellent cameras. Of course i had a full equipment including all type of lenses, fish-eye,macro,telephoto,extreme wide etc. I bought the best flash and the most expensive. And then someday, i took the great step to the small mirroless cameras.
The main reason that i wanted a mirrorless camera is the the size!!! Yes, size matters...In that case in a different way. DSLR's are big,bulky and heavy. Mirrorless are so light ! I can carry my Olympus all day and i feel ok. You can even put it in your large pockets of your jacket. It was strange when i was trying to get used to that small body of my EM10 and i will show you in the next posts what i mean.
The other reason that i prefer the small mirrorless Olympus EM10 than a DSLR is that i am INVISIBLE! Yes...there is a difference the way that people looking at you when you hold a BIG DLSR with a BIG lens and when you hold that small camera like my Olympus. Usually when you have a big DSLR people will see you as a professional photographer and some of them will be very aggressive when you take candid street photos. They are afraid the big lenses and large cameras. But when you have this small baby, you look just like a tourist. Just practice some techniques for street photography and no one will even bother . Perhaps we can talk about these techniques later.
There are some pros and cons of both cameras and we will talk about this in the next post .
So, my final thoughts are these:
DSLR's are very very good with some extremely great functions and lens variety but they are big...If you are a professional ,sports photographer,nature etc, i am sure that you know better than me. As i said, these are some simple thoughts by an amateur !!
But.. if you want to be invisible and not having those large bags with all these equipment you can go mirrorless!! Remember those great artists with the Leica film cameras .
